Visiting CFSA

The Canadian Forces Sailing Association and its members are pleased to invite you and your crew members to use our facilities when visiting the Victoria area.

Security:  As the West Coast Base for the Canadian Navy, Esquimalt Harbour is subject to additional security regulations. As part of these measures, arriving vessels must clear in by calling “Port Security” on Channel 10 VHF prior to entering Esquimalt Harbour, reporting the name of your vessel, the number of persons aboard and your destination (CFSA). Under normal circumstances this is a routine matter but a guard boat may be tasked to approach you for a visual inspection. Within the harbour there are a number of restricted areas and all craft must keep clear of military facilities – there are yellow buoys defining the closest allowable approach. Similarly, all vessels must keep well clear of maneuvering warships and warships moored in the approaches.

Customs:  CFSA is no longer a Customs clearing station except for CFSA yachts berthed at CFSA.

Mooring: Visiting berths are normally available on a first-come basis without reservations. As you round the barrier barges the visitor berths at the end of the main float are visible and identified by a blue bullrail relatively close to the easternmost barge. Both sides are painted blue and may be approached from either side of the barges. Once you have secured your vessel, please register your arrival with Dave or Sam at the bar in the Clubhouse(if open), or the office in the double traler below the Clubhouse. If neither facility is open please fill out a reciprocal moorage form, available at the top of the main brow, and deposit the indicated portion in the mailbox on the Foreshore office door.

Reciprocal facilities and services: The first two days of moorage are free. Further moorage to a total of seven days twice yearly is 50 cents per foot per day. Water and 15 amp power is available on the floats at no charge and showers/washrooms are available at the Clubhouse, also at no charge.

Please fly your burgee at all times during your visit with us and we hope you enjoy your stay.

If you are planning a visit to CFSA please print and read the attached brochure. It will help you make your plans for your stay with us – or maybe even convince you to stay.
